Shop site review

Check the shop floor and the work behind it.

For an independent shop in England, we can agree one visit across customer areas, deliveries, stockrooms, fire arrangements and staff safety. The actual layout and work determine the scope.

What the shop visit can cover

We look at slip and trip risks where customers and staff walk, how spills and cleaning are managed, and whether goods or displays obstruct routes. We also consider who may be affected by the work.

  • Customer routes, entrances and wet-floor controls.
  • Stockroom access and escape routes.

Records to prepare

Show us the risk assessment, fire risk assessment and emergency plan, recent accident or near-miss records, cleaning arrangements and any instructions for deliveries or moving stock. Missing records can be listed as gaps rather than recreated for the visit.

What the owner receives

The report separates observations from records and unverified statements. It gives a prioritised action list with suggested owners, target dates and a point for checking completion; urgent concerns are raised during the visit.

Limits and next step

A broad shop review is not automatically a formal fire risk assessment. Any such assessment is scoped separately to the building and assessor's competence. Electrical testing, structural work and other specialist tasks need the appropriate provider. Tell us your shop type, location, layout and main concern using the contact button below.
